The people at iGuitar now offer 13pin and USB upgraded service for many non-Brian Moore/iGuitar instruments. Guitars that have a standard tunomatic bridge, standard strat style bridge or trem and Standard Floyd Rose trem.
The work is done out of their custom shop and is the highest quality you can get. Using RMC or Graphtech saddles, you can plug directly into your computer and record you guitar into you recording program. With the use of the 13 pin output you gain access to software instruments, notation program and more. 13 pin info

Until a couple of years ago, I was a regional sales manager(sales rep) for Brian Moore Guitars. They scaled down to do more R&D on the USB guitars. Recently I got the inside scoop on Brian Moore/iGuitar. They have guitars and they are selling direct! Some Custom Shops are ready to be built, including three 7 string USB's. Left-handed Custom Shops are available. A handful of iGuitars(imports) are also in house. I have the availability list and the pricing. Custom Shop lead time is 10-12 weeks. Four weeks on the 7 strings. iGuitars are 4-6 weeks. They are offering Graphtech Floyds with piezo and 13 pin!- plus upgrades Custom colors on iGuitars is a new upgrade option. The spraying would be done in the Custom Shop!

You have been seeing laptops on stage for a while but mainly with DJs or keyboard players. It has only been in the last few years that guitar players are starting to use laptop for live situations. (Vernon Reid, John McLaughlin, Craig Anderton and others) With NI Guitar Rig, IK's amplitube, Peavey Revalver and others, the guitarist can have a big arsenal of amps and effects at a touch of a foot pedal
You will need an audio interface to get from the guitar to the computer then to the speakers. I now have a Motu 828 to use but I really do not want to lug around a rack unit. There are plenty interfaces that have same/similar specs and you could get something smaller but not as small as the Axeport Pro by CEntrance!
